Ananda Mela Joyful Festival of India

We went to the Ananda Mela Indian festival in Redmond. It was so cool. All sounds and smells of India were there. It was surprisingly a huge event. Two music stages, two big grassy fields, traditional displays of art and history, booths, tons of free kids Indian games, crafts and activities not to mention cheap Indian food. Actually everything was cheap, they weren't trying to make money, just trying to celebrate their culture which made it far less annoying than most festivals. I was among only a handful of non-Indians there. Yeah, I'm special.

Meena and Ella with their mendhi and face paint

It looks like Sai is coloring here doesn't it? Really he was just eating the chalk and rolling in it.

These beautifully painted photo opportunities were everywhere.

I could have stayed all day relaxing in the warm day listening to music and eating meal after meal of curry. I highly recommend going to one of these.
