Peshastin

We went to Peshastin for a wedding.
It was mid 90 degree weather and in the sun...

Narayan was in the wedding so he had to wear this full suit in full sun. But he sure looked nice :)

Wawa

Sai says wawa (water) it usually sounds more like awa, which then actually sounds like agua. So when people hear this they naturally think he is bilingual :)

Anyway, he loves his wawa and during the short but lovely heat wave, we have been playing in the water as much as possible. There are a couple of spray parks by my house that we visited. At first Sai wasn't sure what to think about it, but soon found the experience delightful.

Ok, I have to apologize for the ridiculous way that I dressed this poor kid. I mean what was I thinking? I really didn't notice at the time, but can you get any more clownishly nerdy?

They also had a fun sprinkler to play in (more nerd attire).

We went swimming with auntie Emily at Magnesun on one of our hot days.

Sai said wawa over and over as he took a swim with baby Alex in his pool.

Looking for Sun

A day trip across the pass in search for sun is the perfect remedy for June (and July) gloom.
We went to Leavenworth for the day just to see blue, pathetic I know...

On the decent, a clear line of gray on the west and blue on the east divided the skies.

We visited the river in a couple of spots.

Took a short hike.

We ate at our favorite bratwurst place. Sai likes sauerkraut!

Finished off the day enjoying a silly oompah band.

The 4th on Vashon

We went to Vashon for the 4th again this year.

Nobody told me the best way to keep this kid occupied is to make a cooler full of beverages available.

We had a little bit of rain but that doesn't stop the 31st annual 4th of July party. As a kid I seem to remember many rainy 4ths at the Tucker's party. I also remember feeling that I had to wait SOOOOO long for it to get dark enough to light fireworks. We watched a few here before heading to the Olives to watch the Vashon fireworks over Quartermaster Harbor. Sai slept through the entire show.

Ananda Mela Joyful Festival of India

We went to the Ananda Mela Indian festival in Redmond. It was so cool. All sounds and smells of India were there. It was surprisingly a huge event. Two music stages, two big grassy fields, traditional displays of art and history, booths, tons of free kids Indian games, crafts and activities not to mention cheap Indian food. Actually everything was cheap, they weren't trying to make money, just trying to celebrate their culture which made it far less annoying than most festivals. I was among only a handful of non-Indians there. Yeah, I'm special.

I could have stayed all day relaxing in the warm day listening to music and eating meal after meal of curry. I highly recommend going to one of these.

"Our" Beach

We all have a place we call "our" beach or our park or our restaurant. We call this our beach because we can walk to it and we love it dearly.

As soon as we had a promisingly warm day, we packed up the stroller and headed down to Meadowdale beach (along with everyone else in the neighborhood) to enjoy the sunset.
