Neighborhood Parks

Well I took these pics over a month ago, but I wanted to record the memory in this handy blog.

Meadowdale beach park is close by our house but the entrance is not at all close. We have been to the official entrance where you park your car and hike over a mile down a steep hill to get the the beautiful park. This would work out just fine except that you have to hike back up the hill if you want to go home, and I am no fan of walking if there is any elevation to gain. Note to readers: All invitations to go "hiking" will be politely declined. Walks are lovely though :)

So, being the lazy bums that we are, a year after living here, we finally decided to stop putting it off, and explore the back entrance trail that I discovered on google satellite maps (hooray for this!).
The following pictures lead you through the journey.

This is the street heading north of our house that the city just recently added sidewalks to (hooray for this too!).

Above is the site of the new playground park that is also being built (unnamed). I don't know when it will be finished but you can imagine my excitement when I found out that a new BEACH park is being built just a few minutes walk from my house (Triple hooray!)

The little spit of land in the upper right is Meadowdale Beach park that we are headed to on this walk.

Wildlife! There were 3 of them flying together, I only got a pic of one.

Here we are at the entrance of the 'crazy rugged trail' that we were too afraid to try and take with a baby. Apparently this is the handicapped entrance so you have to enter a code to drive it. But it is the perfect private strollerable walk. I couldn't believe it! I felt like Lewis and Clark discovering the pacific as we came across this little nearby gem. I guess having a park is important to me now that I have a kid. And having a beach nearby has always been important to this former islander.

So the trail is really short, not at all rugged and has very minor elevation gain.
This is the park, unfortunately the tunnel to the beach was flooded so we didn't hit the sand, and Narayan wasn't game for crossing the tracks with a baby.

Sai napped in the ergo on the walk home.
