I did it again...I succumbed to the convenience of a drive through fast food lunch. I was just so dang hungry, like hungry to the point of shaky steering, followed by a further drain from feeding Sai only a few minutes prior. I knew that it would be at least 20 minutes before I could get home, and then another 10 before food hit my stomach, I didn't think I could make it without leaving this state of consciousness. So I visited Taco Hell.
While I am generally impressed with the way most of my world is set up for getting around with a baby; sidewalks, changing tables in restrooms, coffee cup holders on strollers etc., I just don't understand why there are no drive throughs (drive thrus) that don't put you into cardiac strain a quarter hour after eating. I KNOW there are other mothers out there with sleeping children in the back seat, sleeping children who will wake up when they have to be removed from their carseats to get into a deli or grocery store or *ghasp* restaurant. This wakefulness wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't followed by cranky "didn't get a long enough nap" behavior all afternoon and then very "unsound" sleep that night. So, knowing there are other families on the go, why are my only drive through options gut bomb, artery clogging, fast food places? I will not be getting a Die Quick salad or Jack in the Crack wrap thank you very much (there is a reason for these nicknames). Ok, I do know about Starbucks stuff (half decent) and the Panda Express on 196th (definitely not healthy) and the taqueria drive through (my preferred place, but I only know of one). I just want something that will make me feel like I will live long enough to see Sai graduate.
This is my plea to the world (and by world, I mean the 10 or so people that read my blog... ). We need some better options! There has got to be enough of a market, in the northwest especially, to support a healthy, possibly organic, fresh food, whole grain etc.. etc.. DRIVE THROUGH place.
Anyone with a bunch of money to invest? I've got some ideas for you.

Thea.
Cashews, almonds and fruit will save you. I am often driving around all day for work and there have been times when I have almost felt forced to stop by someplace for awful tasting and bad for me food( once I gave in and got Wendy's chilli because it sounded like the least terrible choice on the menu. ewww). Now when I know I will be driving most of the day and might not get a real meal before dinner, I pack a bag of nuts and fruit (and sometimes turkey jerky) so that I never get to that point of feeling like I might die of hunger.
Maybe when I retire I will open an organic soup drive through...but by that time Sai will be all grown.
