Aquarium

Playgroup went to the aquarium this week. Where else can you get a picture of your kid as a giant jellyfish?

The actual jellyfish were pretty cool.

Sai looked at the fish somewhat, but he looked at the people and the lights just as much.

I don't know what kind of fish this is, but I know that it's not native to this area, so I don't think I should be expected to know. What I found surprising as I eavesdropped on other people's conversations, was how many people are totally clueless about the sea creatures that we have here. Seriously I heard a mom show her kid a very giant and yummy looking salmon and say "look at the whale!" A whale? Come on. Hopefully mom was just saying that to dramatize the event, but what's wrong with teaching a kid in Seattle what a salmon is? A sturgeon was mistaken for a shark, an otter was a seal, coral was a rock. I don't profess to know all my native marine life, but I do expect people to identify a salmon for Pete's sake.

Charlotte waving at the scuba diver...he spent an awful lot of time floating in that tank waving at kids, interesting job huh?

This is the picture that I'm going to sneak into my Puerto Rico trip book, in the snorkeling section.
